Round Table on Special Economic Zones in the Republic of Guinea

Conakry the 28th March 2019

Since 2011, under the impetus of the President of the Republic, Guinea has triggered a process of structural transformation of its economy by carrying out numerous reforms. In order to give some value to this transformation, the President of the Republic created by decree D/2017/PRG/SGG of April 25, 2017 the first Special Economic Zone of the Country in the Boké region. Following this decree, followed the creation of a Development Authority and the Administration of Special Economic Zones (ADAZZ).

“Indeed, the SEZ of Boké will make it possible to have more impact and to diversify investments by making the Government's trade policy more effective.

It is with this objective that the Ministry in charge of Investments and PPPs and the Agency for the Promotion of Private Investments (APIP) assisted the Authority for the Development and Administration of Special Economic Zones (ADAZZ) in the organization a Round Table placed under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, in the presence of several members of the government and experts from 7 countries that have implemented the SEZ in their economic systems. The objective of this event was to create a framework for exchanges and sharing between these experts and administrative executives with the aim of accelerating SEZs in Guinea. Several sessions covered this Round Table: sessions for presenting studies and sharing experiences, among others. It should be noted that the SEZ of Boké will act as a pilot in the implementation of SEZs in other administrative regions of the country.
